FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

IMPORTANT- PLEASE READ
Anyone interested in having a stunt performance of any kind should always ask the following three questions to any team before allowing them to perform:

1. Are you Registered with the state and federal government?
2. Are you licensed and do you carry workers comp?
3. ARE YOU INSURED? - at least $2,000,000 in General Liability?

IF THE ANSWER IS NO TO ANY OF THESE QUESTIONS
WE STRONGLY ENCOURAGE YOU TO AVOID USING THEM
Dont be fooled, these qualifications are critical
Here's some false answers you'll
 likely get from unqualified teams:

1. "All our bikes are registered and licensed"
This doesn't mean anything except that they can drive a bike on the street. It does not mean they are a business or have any qualifications for performing stunts. If they are not a business they cant carry workers comp, and your workers comp policy will likely be liable if they get hurt.

2. "We have motorcycle permits and bike insurance"
Even if they've registered with the state, that doesn't license them to perform stunts, and standard bike insurance doesn't cover stunt accidents. Make sure you get a copy of their workers comp certificate. If they dont have workers comp, their bike insurance company will likely hold YOU responsible if the bike or rider is hurt.

3. "Our health/bike insurance will cover anything that happens"
OR
"We'll just sign a waiver"
Not good enough, waivers virtually never hold up in court, and under NO circumstance will a rider's health or bike insurance protect
you from lawsuit if a spectator OR rider gets hurt because of the show.  Waivers should always be used IN ADDITION to insurance, never used in place of it. Make sure you get a copy of the
 General Liability Insurance Certificate
showing you as an additional insured.

Use a team that is set up and has the appropriate qualifications. You'll be surprised to find that teams like S.L. are just as affordable as a team without the right credentials.

NOTE: We strongly encourage a 30 day notice for shows which allows time for promotions and safety,
This is not a requirement though.

Q: Does S.L. charge for shows? Does S.L. do shows for free?

A: Yes, we charge for our performances.   However we do not charge the spectators, the event host or venue will pay us to perform.  90% of our shows are free to the general public.  In some cases a venue will charge admission into the area that we are performing in, but that is up to the event host.
As a team we have never, and will never, charge the general public.
Although we charge most venues for our shows, we do perform for free for certain organizations such as registered 501(c)3s.   These are the only types of events that we will do for free, and we annually budget for these, so they are limited to about 2 per year, which we currently have booked until 2013.
If you have questions please feel free to contact our office.

Q: What about safety and accidents? How risky is this?

A: Your liability is very small actually.  Plain and simple, if its not safe - we don't do it. We are Colorado's ONLY fully licensed and insured streetbike stunt team carrying full workers compensation, AND  $2,000,000 in General Liability that covers fans, customers, and property damage. These are industry standards for coverage and we encourage you to avoid using companies that may not carry this type of insurance. Insurance doesn't prevent accidents, it simply covers you if something happens.   We understand this, and thats why we go WAY beyond these qualifications to ensure safety. There is a liability waiver that each of our riders & staff sign prior to the event that releases you and your business from responibility of injury or worse. Our staff may also have each spectator sign a similar waiver as they enter the event area.  Our staff members are medically and physically trained to handle show related emergencies and have each rehearsed a detailed emergency action procedure that allows for timely and efficient response (because lets be honest... unfortunately there's always a chance).  We provide show designs that allow for close-up viewing of our stunts. This is done by choreographing stunts so that fans feel like they're close, without actually being in the path of danger. Speed, direction, rider selection, pavement quality, pavement pitch/crown/roll, and security staff positioning are all factors that play into our designs. We have detailed calculations that tell us how fast bikes can go in given areas and how far away spectators should be in order to maintain safety. These calculations are done at every event no matter how small or large.  Additionally if we feel that solid barriers are necessary we will provide them and set up the area to maintain proper safety.
Just ask any of our staff, safety is #1
Thats why in 6 years of performing we have maintained a 0 accident history, and 0 show related injuries.

Q: How much room do you need to perform a show?

A: We encourage as much room as possible, with an ideal size of 100ft x 200ft or larger.  This is not a requirement though. The features that you select will dictate the space requirements.  For streetbike & BMX/Skate stunt shows we try to maintain a minimum area of ~50ft x 100ft, however we frequently perform in less. Bottom line, there is no requirement, but the more space we have, the more riders we can put in, and thus you get a better show. It  depends more upon lot quality - not quantity.  We must have pavement to perform our shows.  Dirt or gravel lots will NOT work.  Most parking lots and streets are acceptable.

A: Lets be honest, maybe you don't have much to gain other than simply entertaining your guests. However, we've found that sometimes the ability to get people to a location and keep them there is actually the key to success.  For sales and vendor related businesses, this is vital. By having a show you are providing your staff the opportunity to contact potential customers (who might otherwise be at another business) in a light hearted, seemingly neutral, and very memorable environment.  By using multiple shows throughout the day you can keep people at your business long enough for you and your staff to personally contact each potential customer.  For admission based events, these shows provide a great way to get ticket sales from people who would otherwise be unwilling to pay an additional $5 per ticket.   These shows can be as helpful as you allow them to be.  We help you design a show that will not only entertain your guests, but one that will provide you with an ideal environment to create leads, generate sales, and improve public outlook towards your business.  No matter how big or small your business is, we have a show design that will suit your customers and your budget.

A: The turnout for smaller businesses such as bike/car dealerships or retail stores is usually around 200-400.  However, rallies, fairs, and poker runs can often generate numbers into the thousands. Its all about how the show is advertised. Typically the best turnouts come from the use of radio ads, BUT with high profile locations such as properties adjacent to hiways or main roads, this may not be necessary as our shows generate a very large amount of "passer by" attention.  We will work with you to ensure your show has the proper amount of advertising. At a minimum, we always hang large banners near the show, and frequently flyer the area in the days prior to the event.  The average turnout in 2009 was 650 spectators per event.

Q: What about bad weather? Can I cancel the event?

What if I need to cancel for some reason other than weather?

A: There are three parts to this answer and we encourage you to read all of them:

Part 1. WEATHER CANCELLATION
We understand that you can't control the weather.  Thats why if the team managers feel that a show cannot be performed, you will not be held accountable nor asked for payment for cancelled shows*. Additionally, you will not be asked to pay any cancellation penalties that may be listed in your event agreement.  We usually draw the line for show performance and cancel at the following levels:
-If winds are steady and/or gusting to 25mhp+
-If outside temperatures drop below 45oF
-If the stunt area surface becomes at all wet, moist, or dusty
If team managers cancel the event, you will be offered another show at the same price on a date of your choice, however any non-refundable deposits will not be applied towards the next event.
*A cancellation of any kind does not entitle the customer to a refund of any non-refundable depositis made towards the event. Most shows do not require a deposit, and if so, it will be clearly stated in your contract
**We will always check the forecasts and avoid traveling to the event if the weather suggests the show will end up being cancelled (notice our "weather forecast" tab).  It is expensive for us to travel, and we will usually call to check-in with you before we actually head to the event.

Part 2. NON-WEATHER CANCELLATION ON SHOW DAY
Once we have arrived at the event,  if none of the above weather conditions exist, the shows will be performed regardless of spectator turnout, and a full payment will be due under the guidelines of your contract.
If you feel weather conditions will effect spectator  turnout OR if you are not satisfied with the current spectator numbers you may cancel the event at any time
If you cancel the show on show day, you will need to do one of two things:

Pay the cancellation penalty described in the event agreement, OR pay for the amount of shows performed thus far (which ever amount is greater)*
OR
Reschedule an event of equal or greater value to take place within 30 days, which will have a $100 rebooking fee applied to the final price. (this eliminates the cancellation penalties, but does not eliminate fees for shows performed that day.)*

*A cancellation of any kind does not entitle the customer to a refund of any non-refundable depositis made towards the event. Most shows do not require a deposit, and if so, it will be clearly stated in your contract

Part 3.  NON-WEATHER CANCELLATION PRIOR TO SHOW DAY
If you need to cancel your event prior to the event date for any reason, you may do so at any time. If you cancel before the actual show date you will need to do one of two things:

Pay the cancellation penalty described in the event agreement*
OR
Schedule a show of equal or greater value to take place within 30 days (we will waive the $100 re-booking fee if cancellation is done at least 72 hours prior to show time )*

*A cancellation of any kind does not entitle the customer to a refund of any non-refundable depositis made towards the event. Most shows do not require a deposit, and if so, it will be clearly stated in your contract

If you have additional questions regarding these policies please feel free to contact our office.
As of June 2009 we have only had to cancel 1 event, and it was the S.L. Staff that caught the problem seven days before the event. No penalties were assessed, and no deposits were withheld.

Q: Can I come to a practice or demonstration?

A: Absolutely.   Our event schedule is updated frequently, and if you haven't seen us ride we encourage
you to make it to a show.  For potential customers we'll even pay for the trip to see us.  Call our office for
practice times and locations or for more information about attending our performances.
